A Colorado cat missing since last June was found Thursday in Texas. Harvey the cat was trapped in a deep hole more than 800 miles away from his home.

“Our field team spent six hours working to pull him from a 25-foot hole after he had fallen and became trapped,” Dallas Animal Services told UPI.

After getting Harvey to safety, the rescue group scanned the missing cat’s microchip and found that  his owner was over 800 miles away in Denver, Colorado.

Harvey’s owner Jackie Ewer told  Denver 7 she was in disbelief when she first received the call from the Texas animal shelter.

“I don’t know how it’s possible you have my cat because I live in Colorado,” she said. “I’m surprised, but at the same time if any cat would have some crazy adventure, it would be Harvey. He’s very funny.”

Ewer said Harvey lived mostly as an outdoor cat, but she became worried when he didn’t return home after several nights.

“After I didn’t see him for a while I was concerned that a wild animal got him,” she said. “He knew where his home was, so I was surprised when he didn’t come home for a couple nights and I was worried about him.”

She said she thinks that Harvey must have managed to hitch a ride at some point on his long trip, and wished the two could discuss his journey.

“I wish he could talk. That would be such a fun story to see what has he been up to for the last eight months,” Ewer said.
