A cat who disappeared 14 years ago turned up at an outdoor museum in the UK where the true story of his secret past has been revealed.
Snitch, or Tiger, as he was renamed, was the companion of Rachel Wells, a veterinary nurse, when he disappeared in 2003, according to a report in The Mirror.
Wells, 33, spent months searching for Snitch, putting up posters and handing out leaflets–to no avail. After living as a stray–or in some other home–he turned two years later up at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, West Midlands, according to The Mirror.
Just three miles from Wells’s home, the museum was the perfect hangout for Tiger, who bonded with Roger Colbourne, a member of the maintenance staff. “I gave him some of my lunch and he never stopped coming back,” he told The Mirror.
Eventually, Tiger’s microchip was found and checked, and Rachel came by to see her missing kitty. Wells was thrilled to see him, but realized Snitch had bonded with Roger, and she decided not to separate them.
“Roger has had him a lot longer than I have and he is so well loved. He gets fed fish and chips every day by the museum, he couldn’t have asked for better than that.”
“I lost my dog Rose over Christmas but seeing Tiger every day really helped me through that, he’s such an affectionate cat,” said Colbourne.
“Still we can’t help but feel duped, I thought someone had abandoned him when the truth was he had run away from a perfectly good home and loving owner.”
