Ringo the cat spent a week trapped in the roof of a magnificent Art Deco cinema in Sydnay, Australia before theatregoers heard his cries for help.

The orange and white tabby lives in an apartment next door to the Cremorne Orpheum Picture Palace and has been known to get onto the cinema’s roof for a spot of sunbathing. This time, however, he visited inside the building and became trapped. Cinema manager Alex Temesvari believes Ringo snuck in through a door  left open by tradespeople.

Meanwhile, Ringo’s petmom, Stefanie George searched the streets and put up missing cat posters.

When cinema employees traced the meows that had been reported to them they discovered the kitty in the roof and got in touch with Stefanie.

“I’ve had him nearly 10 years. He’s part of the family … we really didn’t think we’d see him again.”

“He didn’t seem in a bad way … he was more lonely,” Mr Temesvari said of Ringo’s state of being when found.

The too-curious cat was reportedly very happy to go home and to be reunited with his sister Rudy.

The Local reported on the story.

The Orpheum Picture Palace posted this video with Ringo to Facebook on August 27, writing: “Cinema cat!!! We found a cat on our roof…he’s been missing for a week but we tracked down the owners. We don’t just show movies we also save lives!”
