Cats have a way of getting themselves into the most interesting predicaments. No one knows just how a cat in Colorado Springs got herself stuck in a fence, but she was lucky that rescuers were around to help her.

At some point late at night, this cat got her hind paw trapped between two wooden pickets in a fence. She hung upside-down from her paw, screaming and meowing. A neighbor found the trapped cat and called the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. The neighbor was able to pull the pickets apart while the cat was freed.

Unfortunately, the cat’s hind paw was severely damaged, and her back toe had to be amputated. The cat, now named Picket, was taken to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region veterinary center, where she received the treatment that she needed. Picket is now recovering and is being carefully monitored to make sure that she heals properly.

If all goes well, Picket will be up for adoption in a few weeks. She’s friendly and has a great personality, so she has a good chance of finding a new home.
