The intensely colored green cat seen around the Black Sea resort community of Varna, Bulgaria late last year is now back to her natural state, except for a bit of remaining green tinge to the fur in her ears and on a patch on her chest.

Thinking that vandals had painted the cat, a well-known neighborhood stray, locals set up a ‘Punishment to the the perpetrator of this criminal act’ Facebook page and tried to find those responsible for it.

The cause of the cat’s coloration was determined to be an accidental consequence of her habits and travels.

Rex Media reported on the story, writing that the cat was discovered to be sleeping on “an abandoned heap of synthetic green paint in a garage.”

Rex Media has now showed kitty’s new look in some recent photos. It is thought that locals have helped to remove the green color from her fur, and she has apparently been prevented from sleeping on the paint refuse.

We shared the story of the green cat on December 5, with our post Mystery of emerald green cat is resolved. Kitty was back in the news the following week after locals did not see her for three days and wondered what had become of her. She soon returned to public view.

Kitty is still seen around town with the orange kitty that some locals believe to be her son.
