When Kathryn Van Beek headed out for a walk after a rainstorm on November 5th, she never knew that her would would take her on a path of saving a life. It was during her walk that Van Beek of Kingsland, Auckland, happened upon a day-old orphaned kitten. Van Beek checked with neighbors, but when no one claimed the kitten, she brought him home.

Van Beek nursed the orphaned kitten back to health, and he opened his eyes for the first time during his second week in his new home. The kitten was aptly named “Bruce,” after Bruce Wayne, who was also orphaned.

Bruce steadily gained strength and soon began calling out for his feedings. At three weeks of age the kitten had gained the strength that he needed to begin exploring his surroundings, learning to climb the stairs just a week later.

Bruce has readily made himself a welcome member of the Van Beek family, and has even started his own blog. This lucky kitten even has his own ebook – the Bruce the Cat Baby Book chronicles the kitten’s first five weeks of life. And, like any cat should, Bruce also has his own Facebook page with over 4,500 followers.
