Big Cat Rescue will receive a new Toyota Tacoma truck later this summer via a philanthropic program designed to help nonprofits in need.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving nonprofit organizations, based on votes from the public via an application on the program’s Facebook page. From thousands of applications, five hundred finalists were chosen by a panel of judges. Each day five organizations are profiled on the Facebook page and the public may cast their vote on one of those selections. Voting runs from May 9-August 16th — on June 3rd, Big Cat Rescue was the big winner!
Big Cat Rescue, which opened its doors in 1992 is the largest accredited sanctuary in the world dedicated entirely to abused and abandoned big cats. According to their site, their mission is “…to provide the best possible home for the animals in our care and try to stop the flow of exotic cats needing sanctuary by educating the public about the plight of the animals and supporting stronger laws to protect them.” The organization plans to use the truck to transport people and equipment to and from rescue sites.
