When Gordy Yates needed to come up with a present for his sister, Meredith’s 28th birthday, he let his creativity run free.
Gordy notes on his blog, “My twin sister Meredith is so great and I am so bad. Every year on my birthday, she gets me something cool: a t-shirt, a funny book, something she wanted to get rid of but chose to give to me instead, and so much more. And no matter where I’ve lived, she’s always either sent the gift in a package or saved it to give to me later.”
So, Gordy turned to Instagram – to his sister’s account, more specifically. “I recreated 28 of the photos she posted this past year. By looking at these photos, you’ll see how cool she is!” Gordy writes. Then, the images follow.
You have to love Gordy’s sense of humor. He’s re-created countless photos, and has juxtaposed the originals with his versions. There’s Gordy in outfits which resemble his sister’s, Gordy mimicking his sister’s poses, and more.
But the best pictures have to be Gordy’s interpretations of the photos where Meredith holds or interacts with her baby. And that’s because Gordy has substituted a cat in the baby’s place. And it’s adorable. The cat “hugs” Gordy’s shoulder, leans in for a kiss, and even allows itself to be swaddled.
One thing’s for certain: Gordy’s gift is unique and his sister is sure to remember it for many years to come.
