New Leash On Life, an animal shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee, was victim of a break-in suspected to have occurred early Thursday morning.
The vandals caused serious damage to the building, even damaging a special commemorative box holding items in memory of the office’s late dog. Four windows and a safe were broken, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
But perhaps worst of all, Mara, one of the adoptive cats has gone missing. Mara is a black and white cat and is a shy senior kitty. Staff will set traps in hopes of catching her.
Police are investigating the incident, and the shelter was closed on Thursday. There have been other break-ins in the area as of late.
Faithful Pet Memorial Services has come forward and has offered to replace the commemorative box which was damaged. Please visit New Leash On Life’s Facebook page for further updates.
