Note: This is an updated version of Amelia’s story, originally published 2/13, and updated on 2/14. Today Amelia has a beautiful new name.
Amelia is the newest sweet and specially abled kitty at St. Louis, MO cat and kitten rescue Tenth Life, which has become widely known and respected for their work with special needs kitties.
Amelia is missing the bottom half of her rear legs. She has little nubs there and gets around just fine without paws. She’s feisty, sweet, and clearly adorable.
Tenth Life Executive Director Elizabeth Frick writes:
Ameliaia is a happy and affectionate kitty who doesn’t let her differences slow her down. Although she was born without the bottom half of her hind legs, she has great mobility and is otherwise a healthy little girl. She walks on her nubs and her vet says she should be able to get around this way without any problems.
While she can’t jump like your everyday cat, Ameliaia uses her front legs to climb. She can already get on the bed by herself and has no fear of jumping off! She is an active kitty who loves to explore and play. Pistoria is also very affectionate with humans, purring constantly, kneading her front paws, and giving lots of head bumps.
This miracle kitty is proof that being different is okay!
Ameliaia needs a home with other kitties to play with, and carpet would be ideal, as it is much easier, and more comfortable, for her to traverse.
Amelia is a happy, perfectly abled kitty.
Tenth Life maintains an active Facebook page and an active presence on Twitter.
