If you’re looking for cat art, ranging from paintings to sketches to ceramics, then you’ll need to check out this auction of an incredible collection. The beautiful art collection consists of 246 lots, and will be auctioned off via Quinn’s Auction Galleries.
Utah schoolteacher and artist Patrick Eddington spent most of his life amassing this art collection. Eddington wrote letters to many artists, including Ray Bradbury and Marcel Dzama. Eddintgon asked the artists to send him cat-related artwork so that he could build a one-of-a-kind collection. And, luckily for Eddington, many artists obliged.
Eddintgon had hoped to create a book with the collection, as well as to display the artwork. Unfortunately, these plans never came to light, and Eddington passed away in early 2016. His family is now auctioning off the collection, hoping that the pieces go to cat lovers who truly appreciate them. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill animal sanctuary.
