A Dallas, TX area rescuer happened on a touching scene when she found a two-day-old kitten and a stray young female pit bull together in South Dallas junkyard. The pittie was taking the role of Mama and the kitten was nursing from her. The kitten’s mother was not on the scene and couldn’t be found.
The animals’ rescuer, Marina Tarashevska, is very well known for her tireless efforts helping homeless and abandoned dogs. She brought the pair to Mercy Animal Clinic in Garland, Texas so the pair could be checked out and placed into care.
Mama pittie’s milk is drying up, and the kitten needs the proper nutritients gained either from a nursing cat or kitten formula. She will be placed with a nursing cat until she can be weaned.
It was arranged for the kitten to eventually be transferred to New Beginnings Cat Rescue.
Mercy Animal Clinic wrote at Facebook Monday:
“Marina found this two day old kitten on the side of a road in South Dallas nursing on a pitbull dog. The dog is sweet and loves the kitten, but her milk is drying up. We are bottle feeding the kitten today and placing it in a home with a nursing mother cat tonight. Good job Marina!”
“Spaying momma tomorrow and Marina will get her into foster, unless someone wants to give her a home. She had no pups except the kitten.”
“I [Dr Hamlin] brought the kitty home to bottle feed tonight, as I left the pitbull starting howling. I bet she’ll be happy to see her tomorrow.
“Anybody want to adopt the two together?”
Several commenters suggested that the pair should be adopted out together.
