A handsome black and gray tabby cat was freed from a dark and airless space thanks to firefighters who rescued him yesterday.

After getting a request from the RSPCA, firefighters rushed to a home in Newquay, Cornwall, UK to rescue the cat, who had become trapped between two walls.

The firefighters used specialized tools to cut through masonry in order to reach the trapped cat and bring him out.

Kitty was renited with his grateful owner, who took him for a vet check to make sure he was ok following his ordeal.

Kitty can be seen through the hole in the photo at bottom, taken as the rescue was nearly completed.
