While on duty for Virginia Beach Public Works, two workers spotted a tiny kitten being picked up our of a neighboring yard by a hawk. They startled the bird, which dropped the kitten about two stories down. Initially, they thought she was dead, but she began moving, so they picked her up, returning her to the residence from which she had been taken.
The resident took the kitten to the Virginia Beach SPCA where Danielle Legg, who is with the organization, fostered the grey and white kitten upon hearing her story. Legg, whose cat of 14 years she had lost recently, felt immediately connected to the kitten she has since named, “Kitty Hawk,” telling WAVY, “She’s a fighter through and through, and every day I learn that.”
