When Spanish Police warned people to not post photos of victims or suspects following the brutal Barcelona bombings fearing the terrorists may use social media to gather information. People began tweeting photos of cats and kittens to both shield information from the terrorists, but even more importantly to show solidarity for the heartbroken city.
The Telegraph shared one person tweeted, “We will post cute cat photos so that the murderers do not exploit the blood spilled and the pain caused,” to which came the response, “Help the police. Tweet a cat #Barcelona.”
The response is akin to how people stood together for Brussels in 2015 under the same sad circumstance. The posting of feline pictures raised the spirits of all who either shared or viewed the images, a simple way to bolster all affected by the tragic events.
While investigations continue, so does the tweeting, and with each adorable kitten posted, the healing continues.
