Bob Snow of Sun Lakes, Arizona isn’t your typical retiree. At 82, he’s still saving lives and living up to his reputation as The Cat Man.

For the past 13 years, Bob has helped thousands of stray cats, according to this uplifting report by Nick Ciletti and ABC News of Phoenix, Arizona. He often goes out five days a week to trap feral cats and kittens, whom he delivers to area shelters where they are given vet care, then spayed and neutered. Many are placed in foster homes or adopted, and some are returned to where they were found.

“It’s a lot of work but it’s very satisfying actually because you’re helping the community,” Bob told ABC News. Bob works with  the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

The state has an ongoing problem with its stray cat population. “Cats will only have litters when it’s warm and unfortunately that’s 10-11 months out of the year in Arizona,” explains Michael Morefield of the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

Bob estimates that he’s helped thousands of cats over the years.  “These are cats that didn’t have a chance without some sort of intervention,” Morefield told ABC News.
