It is often said that a man’s (or woman’s) home is his (or her) castle, so shouldn’t it fall to suit that a cat should also have a place to call their very own? Certainly you can find plenty of cat castles to put together, but honestly, wouldn’t your cat castle show up in a cardboard box all its own? So instead of getting a box your cat may prefer to sit in as opposed to the expensive cat castle you just bought, consider making your own.

Billy Browne created a castle for his cat, Rufus, and explained why with the following:
“A present for my cat ‘Rufus’. He began to resent me due to painful ear drops to fix an infection. I would return from work and he would run from me! Now the ears are better I wanted to do something to show my gratitude for his putting up with my torture. Rufus loves boxes as all cats do so this is what I made for him.”
In an article on EscapeAdulthood, maker Mindy Holahan shared her experience as to why she was inspired to create her cat castle (pictured below). While it became a cathartic experience, she did share that her cats eventually played in the castle, once the paint smell had dissipated.
