“Never in all of my years was I prepared to encounter what I saw upon my arrival,” said Deputy Mike Scott.  Warning: Bella’s predicament was truly awful, as shown in this “before” photo posted on Facebook by Sheriff’s Office of Ascension, Louisiana.

A cat was stuck between a garage door and the wall, said Deputy Scott. Neighbors and construction workers were already at the residence attempting to assist, according to the post.

“The neighbors were very helpful as we cautiously removed the upper frame molding that allowed some space for us to remove the cat,” he said. “With a joint effort with neighbors we were able to remove the cat alive.”

The homeowner arrived on scene in a panic when he saw  so many neighbors and deputies in his yard. By that time, Deputy Scott had rescued Bella and told the homeowner about what just happened, at which he exclaimed, “Oh my God, Bella.”

Amazingly, the cat was unharmed after being checked for injuries. The homeowner told Scott that he received four feet of water in his residence and he left earlier that day to buy lumber for repairs.  Bella must have been sleeping on the garage door and he did not notice her predicament when he left.

“I am not much of a cat person, but no one wants to see an animal suffer,” said Scott. “I was happy that I could save the homeowner’s cat. Thank God for miracles and good neighbors.”
