Tiger had been adopted as a kitten and lived happily with her owner until medical circumstances dictated she couldn’t stay with the person she had grown old alongside for 25 years.

Although she was the wrong species, Trinity Hanson was heartbroken over Tiger’s plight, accepting the cat on behalf of the canine rescue group, Big Hearts for Big Dogs, in South Florida. Through her network of adopters and foster homes she came across Sandi Smith.  Smith already had quite a menagerie at home with seven cats and two dogs, not to mention her husband who was less than thrilled with the idea of having another animal, but she had an idea.

Smith adopted Tiger and made her the official greeter and mascot of her new digs, Paris Market Antique Mall, in Fort Myers.  She just couldn’t allow the cat to stay homeless any longer than necessary. Tiger is friendly, though still a bit skittish, but that will ebb, as she settles in among the antique furnishings and what-nots that are as finely aged as she.  With no other cats in this domain, Tiger can easily call it all her own.

And to make the ending even happier, and to help out Smith, all of Tiger’s expenses for the remainder of her days will be paid for by Big Hearts for Big Dogs.  It aligns with the program they offer for all senior dogs from their rescue as a way to encourage adoption.
