A touching Facebook post by the Salt Lake City, Utah fire department on Friday has more than 2,400 ‘likes’ and has been shared about 850 times in the past three days.

That post shows and tells how firefighters rescued and revived two cats at a house fire.

SLC firefighters carried the two wet cats from their home after the fire was extinguished and revived them from the effects of smoke inhalation out on the grass, with the help of pet oxygen masks.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department wrote on July 10: “Firefighters responded to a house fire this morning at 1135 W. Arapahoe Ave. (665 S). After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found two cats inside the home that were barely breathing. Firefighters gave the cats oxygen, and the cats recovered.”

KUTV News mentioned the story at Facebook and posted additional photos from the scene.

The home’s human residents were not injured in the fire, and that cats have presumably been returned to them.
