A reporter doing a live segment was on hand as Miami, FL firefighters found a kitten in a box while fighting a brush fire.

Earlier today, WPLG reporter Roger Lohse was covering a fire burning southwest of Miami that had already charred over 800 acres. While Lohse was wrapping up his report, two firefighters emerged from a wooded area where they were dealing with a hotspot. They held the black kitten, wrapped in a towel, and brought with them the beer box the kitty had been hiding in when they heard its meows.

The firefighters briefly told how they’d found the kitten before taking it over to their truck.

A firefighter is seen hugging the kitten and remarking that, “it’s going right back in the box,” and home with her. She and the kitten then headed over to the fire truck.

Here is the WPLG report. The kitten is seen being brought from the woods at the end of the report.
