Taco is a very sweet cat who who suffered serious injury to his cheekbone and jaw when an abuser kicked him in the face. He is getting loving care and both physical and emotional rehabilitation during his stay with Meow Foundation, the Calgary, AB cat rescue organization, and is healing well after surgery.

Meow Foundation wrote about Taco at Facebook on April 17, saying: “Taco is described as very sweet by his rescuer, so why he was kicked in the face is beyond comprehension by all those who have had the pleasure of spending time with him since his rescue last weekend. MEOW’s Intake and Health Department received a call asking if we would take Taco and give him the medical care he needed. Since then, it has been all hands on deck to get Taco back to a pain-free life, physically and emotionally.

“Taco has been assessed by one of MEOW’s partner veterinary clinics. His left jaw was dislocated in two places and his cheekbone is fractured. An orthopedic surgery specialist at C.A.R.E. Centre has manipulated his jaw back into place and wired it to stay in position. Fortunately, his cheekbone will heal on its own and MEOW’s dedicated staff and volunteers will provide all the love and supportive post-operative care he needs. Taco is moving around and in good spirits and has been an absolute sweetheart throughout his painful ordeal.”

MEOW Foundation thinks Taco is less than a year old. They say that, despite appearances, they do not believe he will suffer any eye or vision problems as a consequence of the assault.

April 30: Taco is On the Way to a Full Recovery!

MEOW introduced a new video uploaded yesterday to celebrate Taco’s progress, saying: “Taco’s surgery was a success, and he has recovered very well. Shortly after having his jaw manipulated back into place and wired to stay in position, Taco started eating and moving around. Taco has slowly warmed up to MEOW’s staff and volunteers, and now enjoys all the love and attention he is receiving. Taco continues on his path to recovery, and will be having his wiring removed in about 3 weeks.”

MEOW has been accepting donations toward Taco’s medical care and other expenses, which are funded through their Healing Hands Medical Care Fund.

  1. I know “Two wrongs don’t make a right”. But I sincerely hope that what goes around, comes around to whom ever did that to this baby. Xxx
