UPDATE: Oreo has been found and is back home. Two hotel guests spotted her outside near an art museum very close to the Armstrong Hotel.  She was reportedly scared but otherwise unharmed. See out update post:  Stolen Armstrong Hotel Cat Oreo is Found.

A historic hotel’s resident feline mascot is missing after bring catnapped by two young men on Saturday.

Oreo the cat has lived at the historic Armstrong Hotel in Fort Collins, Colorado for ten years, as mascot and ambassador, greeting guests in the lobby, and as the beloved pet of hotel staff and owners, Steve and Missy Levinger. Oreo has been with the hotel since the historic downtown establishment was remodeled and reopened in 2004.

CCTV footage shows Oreo being taken from the front desk at 7:40 pm on Saturday, March 14. Two young men in their late teens or early 20s, came to the front desk at the hotel several times on Saturday asking for a room, according to the hotel’s general manager, Nick Gliszinski, and were told there were no vacancies. The pair, who are thought to have been partying during Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, returned early Saturday evening, picked Oreo up, and carried her out the door with them.

“Who knows where she went from there?” Mr. Gliszinski is quoted saying in The Coloradoan.

Mr. Gliszinski told the paper that Oreo’s presence at the hotel is in keeping with tradition from earlier days in the hospitality industry. “She adds a lot of charm to the hotel,” he said. “She’s really one of the things that sets the Armstrong apart.”

Hotel staff and local residents are extremely concerned for Oreo’s well being and want to see her returned to her home.

  1. This is worrisome. The entire community needs to post and crosspost on all social media outlets, there needs to be a lot of publicity via TV, Radio and print so there will be a lot of pressure. Offering a reward for information would be a good thing as well.
She is so lovely and did nothing wrong in this.

  2. If the lads were caugth on camera then the polica should cross reference their faces with records. There should be something. These people need to be caught and made to return poor Oreo. Stay safe kitty! Someone will find you soon!
