An apartment building janitor in Berlin, Germany saved this kitten’s life recently when he heard her cries while emptying trash bins.
“I heard this very soft mewing and I thought I was hearing things,” he explained. “Then I saw these little eyes peering out of the darkness and I managed to coax her out.”
The kitten had been dropped 120 ft. down the building’s trash chute and was rescued from the collection area at the bottom. She was taken to an animal refuge, where she is recovering from minor scrapes and shock from the trauma of tumbling down the chute and being trapped after her fall.
“She was very lucky … and she probably wouldn’t be here today if the janitor hadn’t heard her before the dustmen collected the bins,” said a spokesman, continuing “Whoever did this ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Animals aren’t trash that you can throw out when you’re tired of them.”
