Lovey is the beloved cat of  8 year old Derek Pratt of Raynham MA, and the little tuxie is credited with providing the extra comfort and companionship the boy has needed to help him cope with the loss of his father, who passed away three years ago.

The man who struck Lovey while driving on North Main Street in Raynham recently didn’t fully know the importance of his decent act when he stopped and took the injured little cat for treatment. Lovey needed to have a hind leg amputated after the accident and the kind stranger paid her medical bills.

Derek’s mom, Christine Linn, expressed her gratitude to the man and said that she is unable to pay him back but hopes that viewers in the Boston area who see Lovey’s story on the news might send donations to the vet in Lovey’s name to help show thanks to the good citizen who helped a cat and the little boy who loves her.
