My lil foster brofur, Winston, has had a long tough journey already in his little life, but he’s feeling great and super excited about a PAWESOME day!
– Lincoln, The Formerly Quadriplegic Miracle Kitty
.
Tenth Life cat and kitten rescue Foster Coordinator and foster petmom Bobbi Hale has been caring for little Winston the kitten, a Tenth Life kitty whose health issues have had the organization’s volunteers, staff and supporters holding their breaths, hoping he would pull through them and thrive.
Winston has turned a corner, and now he had been adopted into a loving home. It’s not too great a surprise who has adopted him.
Bobbi Hale previously fostered Lincoln, The Formerly Quadriplegic Miracle Kitty for Tenth Life, which saves stray cats and kittens in the St. Louis area, prioritizing those with special needs. Lincoln was one of the extra special cases that Tenth Life takes on: a special needs kitten from outside their area who desperately needed rescue and caregivers able to help him. Bobbi helped Lincoln to walk with a therapeutic program of her own design. She bonded closely with the kitten and finally adopted him. Bobbi runs Lincoln’s Facebook page. She also fostered the Fabulous Five (including Sinatra and his Fancy Pants), and Jefferson, whose poignant story is told in Jefferson’s Story, My 3 Week Journey with a Paralyzed Kitten.

Bobbi wrote at Facebook on Sunday about Winston, in Lincoln’s voice, saying:
Winston came to us on Aug 1st, from a local high kill shelter. He had been dropped off by his former owners at only 8 wks old due to having messy potty issues. Momma saw a posting of him by volunteers including a video where he was meowing up a storm. He was scheduled for euthanasia until Tenth Life stepped in to help him.
The very night that he came to our home, Momma immediately had to whisk him off to the ER as it was obvious that he had serious swelling in his hind end and was in a lot of pain. They discovered that he was severely impacted and it took 3 days to get him cleaned out. Within 3 days of him being home, he had to go back in to the vet for an enema as he was continuing to have potty issues. When this reoccurred again that weekend, he was directed to another specialty ER to try to discover what the issue was causing him to be unable to poop.
Quality of Life was brought up at one point, but Momma believed that Winston could overcome this.
The amazing Dr’s at VSS quickly discovered that he had two congenital strictures in his colon that weren’t allowing his potty to get through. After a surgery along a 2nd reopening of the strictures in addition to multiple medications over a month, Winston was as good as new!
There was also some concern at the time as Winston was not gaining weight. However, as soon as the medicines started getting cut back, Winston started growing like crazy. He is now breaking the scales at 5 lbs and is on no medication.
Last week, when Winston had his neuter surgery, he ran into more complications when his surgery took 90 minutes instead of a few minutes. It was discovered that he had cryptorchidism which may have been caused by congenital development defects similar to his colon strictures. He has recovered well over the past week and is back to running around like normal. While, he currently doesn’t require special care any longer at this time, his health will need to be monitored as he continues to grow for any further potential issues or reoccurrence.

Winston is the MOST AFFECTIONATE foster we’ve ever had and although he has experienced so much pain and had a rough journey, he has been the happiest kitten we’ve ever met. Anytime he goes to the vet, they can’t even check his heartbeat because regardless of what they do, he will not stop purring! He has been a great support and best buddy to Monet as he goes through his chemo treatments. Not only that, but he loves Me and my permanent brofurs and is so excited whenever he gets to hang out with us that he gives us kisses in greeting. He loves to be held and cuddled by anyone that he meets and has spent the last 3 mths sleeping right against Momma’s face each night. Now that Winston’s vetting is done, it is time to find his furever home.
With any foster kitty, we make sure to match them with the perfect furever home in which they will have the happiest life possible. Most of the times, the foster kitties actually end up picking their homes in return and give their own seal of approval to their adopters. Well, Winston actually picked his home several weeks ago, although it took some convincing. After all that he has already been through and overcome, Winston most definitely deserves to get to live out his life where he is the most happy and where he wants to be. So after weeks of persistence on Winston’s part, he finally gets officially accepted into his furever home this weekend. Winston makes our 19th foster in just over a year, that has found their furever home!
The best part is that you will get to see regular updates on him as he grows because you are all familiar with his adopters and his new furever big brofur. Because it turns out that his furever home is with right here with US!
