Whitesox was lost for more than 40 days when she escaped from the car as her owner was being evacuated from the Black Forest Fire in June of 2013. Luckily, the Denver Dumb Friends League  Buddy Center was there to help reunite Whitesox and her family—thanks to her collar and ID tag.

Whitesox, her petmom and the household’s other pets had just moved from Chicago to Colorado when a wildfire caused them to have to temporarily evacuate their home. The car broke down with transmission trouble as they fled, and Whitesox escaped from a small window opening. Her petmom searched, put up posters and contacted the nearest DFL Buddy Center to file a missing pet report.

Whitesox resurfaced 40 days later and, thanks to her identification and the efforts of the shelter staff, was quickly reunited with her grateful petmom and the two dogs who hasd missed her.
