Peggy and Leela are two kittens who were found around the same time but in totally different places. Each had a significant painful injury/condition and badly needed veterinary care. Luckily, both of their rescuers knew of Vet Ranch and brought them to the ranch clinic for healing!

Peggy had been caught in a fence and suffered a leg injury. Vet Ranch director Dr. Matt put Peggy on antibiotics and waited to see if her leg could be saved, but had to amputate when it became clear that the damage was irreversible.

Leela suffered from a damaged, bulging eye that absolutely needed to be removed.

Both kittens quickly recovered from their medical issues. They were both unsocialized when they were brought in to the clinic, having been born to feral or stray mums. Part of their recovery process involved learning to be comfortable around people and living inside. Dr. Matt took the kittens into his home and his children helped with their socialization.

Matthew Carriker, DVM, or “Dr. Matt,” as he’s known, runs Vet Ranch in Boerne, Texas. Vet Ranch Rescue is a registered tax-exempt non-profit organization that accepts donations toward its operation.
