The Dix Hills, NY Fire Department came to the rescue when a young local cat got scared, ran out of its house and ended up stuck 40 feet up a tree on Wednesday.
The 4 month old kitten got spooked when a dog came into the house and fled, then ran up the tree.
When the family gave up trying to coax kitty down they called the fire department.
Second Assistant Chief Tom Napolitano and Capt. Brett Tepe responded to the call and decided the best and safest way to get the cat was with the Department’s aerial ladder truck.
Once the truck was maneuvered into position, Ex-Chief and Commissioner Larry Feld climbed the ladder and rescued the cat.
The cat was immediately reunited with its grateful family, including a young boy celebrating his birthday that day.
