Now a second cat belonging to a young woman who died in a car crash in August has been found and reunited with her family.
On August 23, 25-year-old Kayce Chik perished when she lost control of her car on Route I-70 in Colorado near the Eisenhower tunnel and was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover crash that followed.
Kayce had been traveling with her three pets – two cats and a dog. The animals survived the crash and ran off into the surrounding wilderness.
It was important to Kayce’s family that they find her missing pets and bring them back to live with them.
For the next five weeks, friends and volunteers searched for Rido and Rado, the cats, and Chula, the dog.
Colorado For Lost & Found Pets was involved in the search and set up an All Paws Home For Kayce GoFundMe fundraising page to help with trail cameras and other supplies to aid the search effort.
The searchers were beginning to feel discouraged when an area resident reported seeing a cat who seemed to fit the description of the missing cats, Sure enough, the cat was Rado. He was observed for a few nights with the cameras and ws easily trapped with the aid of a piece of Kayce’s clothing and some food.
Rado was returned to Kayce’s sister, Tori Ingle.
We shared that story on October 3, with our post Missing cat reunited with family after fatal crash.
Debbie Diver volunteers with Colorado Lost and Found Pets and has been instrumental in the search for Kayhce’s pets.
Debbie spoke with KUSA this week and announced the great news that the other cat, Rido, has also been found.
“We found her in Georgetown!” she said. “Now two down, one to go!”
The searchers are continuing their efforts to find Chulo the dog.
“We want to bring them all home,” Debbie said.
Chulo is a very sweet looking little rat terrier. His photos are posted prominently at the GoFundMe page.
It means a lot to the family to have Kayce’s pets safely found and back with them.
