A litter of 7 abandoned kittens are safe at the shelter after police responded to a call.

A McMinnville, Oregon police officer picked up 6 of the approximately 4-week old kittens when responding to the call reporting the kittens along a roadway early in the morning on July 31.

Officer Marc Cerda arrived at the scene on North Highway 99W and located 6 kittens. He placed the kittens in a box given to him by an onlooker. The kittens were the taken to Homeward Bound Pets in McMinnville.

Homeward Bound Pets says someone else found the 7th kitten and brought it along to the shelter later in the day.

The shelter says the kittens are in basically good health, but a few are being treated for eye infections.

They will be available for adoption when they are 8 to 10 weeks old.
