We love Spartanburg Animal Services, of Spartanburg, SC, for their committment and devotion to helping animals and the heartwarming way they tell of their rescue stories at Facebook, where officer Jessica Lancaster’s efforts to free trapped animals are shared with sweet captions on them.

Spartanburg Animal Services serves the City of Spartanburg through partnership and education. Their motto is: “We strive to EXPLORE the situation, RESCUE if necessary, and PROTECT always.”

This Thursday, Officer Mike, Officer Jessica, and the City of Spartanburg’s Fleet Maintenance Team worked for over an hour trying to free “Little Houdini, a cat who’d gotten himself wedged tight inside a truck’s engine compartment.

The truck’s driver traveled from Jonesboro and stopped near Spartanburg after hearing animal sounds coming from his vehicle. He called Animal Services for help, and a very distressed cat being called “Little Houdini” was discovered inside.

Parts of the vehicle had to be dismantled to free the cat, who has been identified as belonging to the driver’s neighbor and will be reunited with his family soon.

The rescue was shared bit by bit at Facebook earlier today (Friday).
