“Killing Me Softly with His Song” is a song composed by Charles Fox and written by Norman Gimbel and was based on a poem by Lori Lieberman about the song “Empty Chairs” by Don Mclean. Lieberman’s version of “Killing Me Softly” was released in 1971, the song became a huge hit 2 years later for Roberta Flack.
