A kitten in Dallas, Texas was rescued after getting himself in a jam that would have ended very badly for him had someone not heard him and called for help.
A crew of officers from Dallas Animal Services had to cut a hole in a building in the city’s downtown in order to free the little orange tabby, who was in good shape when rescued and is now safe in the care of a local rescue group.
Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center told the story at Facebook, writing:
“This morning we got a call about a kitten stuck in a wall downtown. The kitten had crawled through a tiny hole on the side of a building behind some bushes, and then fallen several feet into a chasm where he was trapped.
“Our officers first enlarged the opening so they could see the kitten, but there was no way they could get to him, so they had to cut a hole in the wall large enough to lower one of the officers in head-first.
“Once in, it was just a matter of snatching the terrified kitten, handing him into the waiting arms of another officer, and climbing back out.
“The officers joked later that they tried to get photos of the officer hanging upside down in the chasm, but they’d have had to let go of him to do that, so they wisely chose not to.
“The little kitten, whom the officers referred to as “Clumsy” is fine. Great work by officers Roberson, Gomez, and Darby!”
The series of photos below document the rescue effort.
