Last week, a member of the public in London, UK alerted The Mayhew Animal Home after hearing crying coming from deep inside a drain in Cricklewood.
Mayhew Animal Welfare Officer Paul Grimes rescued the six week old female kitten who had fallen four feet down the drain.
The rescued kitten, aptly named ‘Squash’, was dirty, dehydrated and hungry but fortunately did not suffer any other injuries.
Paul says “If she had stayed in the drain a day longer, she might not have made it.”
Squash is now recuperating well in the comfort and care of a foster home and will soon be looking for a new family to take care of her.
