Firefighters rescued a kitten while battling a house fire in San Bernardino, CA on Monday.
San Bernardino firefighters responded to a call for a house fire Monday afternoon and found heavy smoke pouring from the back of the home.
More than 4o firefighters came to the scene to fight the fire.
Fire officials said: “Due to poor housekeeping and the large amount of combustibles to the rear of the structure, the fire rapidly spread to the living portion of the home and two outbuildings on the property.”
One resident escaped before firefighters arrived on scene, and a second was not at home, but a kitten was trapped inside. Firefighters rescued the kitten from the burning building and tended to it once it was brought to safety outside.
The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes but firefighters remained on the scene for another hour and a half mopping up hotspots and investigating the cause of the fire..
