It’s been 3 months since Corky, the special needs kitten from CATS Cradle Shelter in Fargo, ND, had his remarkable surgery. Here is is now.
Corky was saved by CATS Cradle Shelter in March of this year, when he was about 6 months old. He was not only rescued and given a better life, his very life was saved, because he would have been euthanaized had he stayed at the pound. He was born with Bilateral Arthrogryposis of the Tarsus, which gave him backward facing and twisted hind legs. Although Corky was well able to scurry around while dragging his back legs behind him, it was decided to get him help to try to improve his condition. A remarkable custom surgery by Dr. Burchill of Casselton Veterinary Services completely reoriented his hind legs, but one of the legs had to be amputated before long.
Corky has been recovering from his surgery while learning use his improved leg and to adjust to the amputation. He has also been learning to adapt to family life after going to live with the shelter’s director.
This video commemorates Corky’s 3 month anniversary after his ground breaking surgery.
