Chase Holiday and her Furball Fables kitties have a personal connection with Black Cat Appreciation Day.
Chase writes:
August 17 is Black Cat Appreciation Day – This video features 7 very lucky black cats friends from our street. They are all rescue cats. Did you know black cats are only half as likely to get adopted as cats of other colors? And that, on average, they stay several months longer in shelters than any other cats.
We found it very hard to find homes for Buddha’s (our black cat) and his two brothers Ziggy and Lucky, who are both in the video. Luckily thet live with our neighbor and we still still them. We kept Buddha! Black cats got a bad rap in the middle ages and it seems to have stuck. Furball Fables was started to try and find homes for the 3 black cats. (You can read the whole story in the description of 3 Lucky Kittens. In a way Buddha changed our lives for the better and we are so happy he is one of the Furball Five!
Black Cat Appreciation day was created by Wayne Morris, who invented the day in honor of his sister who passed away years ago on August 17, and the black cat that she loved. You can visit Wayne’s Facebook page For the Love of Black Cats (Black Cat Appreciation Page.
