A woman has stepped forward to pay for Tuffy to see an eye specialist. The kitten was found in a dumpster earlier this month with paint poured in his eyes. He had been making a good recovery but is now facing a setback with his vision.
We covered Tuffy’s story in Tuffy the Tiny Kitten Is Rescued After Abuse and Dumping, and the hopeful Tuffy Bounces Back.
Tuffy Bounces Back shows the kitten happily playing in his foster home with caregiver Donna Smith, who noted his good recovery and wonderful disposition.
That previous report stated that Tuffy was already up for adoption. The Westside Shelter run by Albuquerque Animal Welfare has taken names of potential adopters, but Tuffy still needs a couple of weeks time to grow and strengthen before he is neutered and ready.
The badly treated kitten has touched the hearts of those who have heard his story, especially local residents in Albuquerque, NM. After followup exams determined that Tuffy’s eyes are still affected by the incident with the paint, and he has partial vision loss, a woman offered to get him treatment with a specialist.
The woman says there are no strings attached and she hopes her deed will inspire others to do the same for animals in need.
The video here, which uses early footage from just after the rescue, retraces the story and notes public outrage over Tuffy’s ill-treatment, but the real story is the unselfish giving by the the good hearted person who has stepped forward to do her part to help, alongside Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department and Tuffy’s foster Mom.
This just makes me sick! God bless the lady who offered to pay for treatment.
Thanks to that woman who made the donation. I hope Tuffy is o.k.
