375MTL recently visited the city’s Café Chat l’heureux – The Happy Cat Cafe for this video report.
Café Chat l’heureux opened in 2014 and is the among the first cafes of its kind in North America.
Owner Clement Marty talks about how he came to open the cafe and explains why he wants it be be a community center for cat lovers.
Part of Marty’s mission is to promote some of the city’s smaller shelters by offering their cats for adoption through the cafe.
The cafe features cat themed art and photography exhibits, and hosts monthly veterinarian-led conferences. On Sundays a cat expert answers people’s questions.
