Black Cat Appreciation Day is coming right up, on August 17th. Here’s 9 reasons why one is very lucky to be owned by a black cat!
Chris Poole writes: “Because of superstitious beliefs in some cultures, black cats are sometimes associated with bad luck and, sadly, are more likely to be put to sleep or wait a long time to be adopted from shelters.
“Black Cat Appreciation Day was launched to show people that a black cat could be the purrfect cat for them, and help raise awareness about black cats!
“If you’ve been looking for a rescue cat yourself, purrlease consider a black cat? … Not only are the superstitions about them bringing bad luck completely untrue, but you might find a black cat to be a fantastic feline companion for you! ”
Black Cat Appreciation Day was created as an online event a few years back by Wayne Morris and has taken on a life of its own. It is now celebrated by cat lovers, animal organizations and shelters far and wide. Wayne continues to host yearly online Black Cat Appreciation Day August 17th celebration events at Facebook.
Petdad and video creator Chris Poole is owned by ginger kitty Marmalade and black kitty Cole. Chris has dedicated several videos to black cat appreciation and adoption awareness.
For his new black cat appreciation video – seen below – Chris asked viewers to send in footage of their cats. Several of those cats are included, along with Cole and his petparents.
