Hello I have 4 cats and three of those are mostly indoors due to coyotes. For about the last 5 months 2 of my cats have had horrible smelling poop. It started with only one having the really smelly poo and she is fat and can barely clean herself. So for a couple of weeks I cleaned her up. Then my orange tabby Yetti started cleaning her behind for her and about a week or two later his poop started smelling really bad. I have taken them to the vet 4 times because of diarrhea and the smell. She says it is diet but I don’t think it is since it started suddenly and the other one got it after cleaning my calico cat. The smell as weird as it sounds smells like very strong “moth balls”. I scoop litter 3 times a day but the smell is driving me crazy and the diarrhea is off and on. Any help would be appreciated.

Could be worms or need for dental care. Most likely it is something that they are eating-like a change in their dietary menu. Exposure to chemicals in the environment that are caustic could cause them to bleed internally and that would cause a weird smell, I think. Hope you don’t live near a nuclear plant, reactor, processing facility, storage site or facility, a fracking site, or a contaminated water site or any other body of water which when drinking from, can make your pet sick from radioactivity or other contamination. I had my adoptees shipped to California, where they stand a good chance of de-toxing from the heavy metals and living a very clean and long life-as most of my cats tend to do.
    Good luck with everything.

    Hi Life With Cats:

Would you be interested in considering using my curiously funny cat cartoons?

Since 1986, over 26,000 of my single panel cartoons have appeared in Woman’s World, Reader’s Digest, Forbes, Cat Fancy, I Love Cats and in over 650 other publications.

You can see my annual “Cat Cartoon a Day” calendar alongside my “Dog Cartoon a Day” calendar (Andrews McMeel) at Amazon.

    Would love to email samples.

    Thank you,

    Jonny Hawkins
