Hiring employees for any business can be a challenge, but once in a while, one comes along that is absolutely purrfect. Such is the case of Ricky, the new first-ever cat-bassador for Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, KY.

Looking the consummate professional sporting a blue tie, the handsome orange kitty was a former stray whom distillery brand ambassador Brett Connors adopted from a pet store in nearby Lexington. In a radio interview by Ashlie Stevens, 89.5 WFLP, Connors said, “You couldn’t have interviewed better than Rick,” says Brett Connors, the distillery’s brand ambassador. “He is just such an outgoing cat.” The fact the cat has FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), wasn’t a deterrent, either, a fact of which Connors was aware before the adoption.

Head distiller Marianne Barnes shared of Ricky, “We’ve had several tours in which we’ll go down through the garden. He’s already in there just hanging out and he’ll pop out of the garden and check in with every single person, just to make sure the tour is going well, see if they need anything.”

The best part about this news arrangement is that both Connors and Barnes see this as an opportunity to bring on board more cats with conditions like Ricky, creating a full team of cat-bassadors for Castle & Key’s brand.
