A healthy set of lungs helped alert a driver to a kitty who had crawled up into a wheel well of her Buick Encore. The driver took the car to a local dealership, where the mechanics got to work and gently extracted the frightened feline.
Sara Weber, who works at the dealership in Grand Haven, Michigan, caught the rescue on video and then adopted the kitten, named Encore, according to the report by NBC Channel 8. Here’s how it happened:
“Another person rolled down their window to tell [the driver], her car was meowing,” said Sara Weeber. “He [the kitten] probably rode in there for about 10 miles through Grand Haven.”
After about 10 minutes, mechanics had rescued the cat. It was unharmed and has a new home with Weeber, an employee of Preferred Chevrolet Buick in Grand Haven. “I think we are all animal lovers at the shop,” she said.
“I feel pretty lucky,” Weeber said. “I feel like it was more than coincidence. He’s definitely living the life now.”
