Maro probably has more outfits with hats than you. And he definitely has his photo taken more often sitting at a table laden wth exquisite gourmet dishes. Here he is shown celebrating the holiday of obon dressed as a Buddhist monk.
Maro is a very chill male tabby cat who lives in Japan with his cat mom, Rie Matsui, who loves to dress him in ceremonial outfits and photograph him posed with traditional foods that include sashimi, steamed buns and other delightful Japanese fare.
The three-year-old tabby has his own Instagram account where you learn a great deal about Japanese food and culture. He’s become a cat ambassador for his country. Maro’s fascinating lifestyle has been chronicled by Rocket News and Metro UK.
Maro means “myself” in Japan. He is often photographed with flowers and a bottle of sake or a glass of wine. His cat mother apparently takes great pleasure in preparing food for holidays and special occasions.
And Maro is a patient poser, and also his mother’s favorite photographic subject.
You can also find out exactly what’s for dinner, which is usually listed in English. Enjoy!
