When they adopted Blanco from their local SPCA, the family had no idea they were bringing home a hero.
In the middle of the night, mom Anna wasn’t at all sure why Blanco was making such a fuss telling Metro UK, “…at about 3am, the cat Blanco was waking me up in an annoying way – as if he wanted something, rather than wanting to play. He usually sleeps at night, and he’s toilet trained but I thought he had forgotten where the toilet was.” She tossed him out of the room, but the cat was having none of that, knocking the door handle and scratching at the carpet.
Anna got up and tried to encourage Blanco to go outside, but he insisted on staying indoors. It was then that she smelled something not quite right and discovered that the gas stove was still lit and a pan burning. Apparently her husband had made something to eat after returning from his late shift and went to bed, not realizing he had left the flame on very low. She quickly removed the pan and turned off the stove, thankful that nothing major happened.
The next day she looked at Blanco and saw that his whiskers appeared curled, as though they had been near extreme heat. “He must have gone to smell the burning pan and didn’t like it, and realised there was danger,” adding, “Cats are amazing.”
