At this time of year, we can all count our blessings that so many people rescue, foster, and adopt animals in need. Thank you to one and all who have made a difference in the lives of these cats and so many more.

Takoda was hanging out with strays outside of a shop, but somehow different. When the shop owner wanted all the strays gone, his new owner took him home to bring him back to health. Covered with fleas, infested with worms, hair falling out, and half his whiskers sheared off, the 4.5 pound cat took to his new way of life and just four months later, he is handsome as can be. Schnitzel, who was abandoned by her mother, was about 4 weeks old when found. She was severely dehydrated, covered with fleas, and absolutely filthy. Today, she is spoiled rotten and rules the roost! (Photo: shane_il)

Sylvester McSnugglekins was found at a gas station by a veterinarian who began feeding the cat (and slipping him antibiotics) developing a bond with him. He then moved into the vet clinic and one day went for a “visit” to the vet’s home and the rest, they say, is history. (Photo: Paigette)

This poor cat was rescued from a high traffic area with a broken back. While the local rescue was unable to assist due to the number of animals they had, and the recommended alternative was euthanasia, the woman who found her began collecting donations to help the kitty recover. While the cat still has trauma, she is safe and warm, and with a foster who cares. (Photo: ilike_bigmutts)

This is the note accompanying the picture of Colin: This is the photo I saw (left) and knew this cat needed a home and some love. Colin was deaf, blind in one eye with arthritis & a heart murmur. The photo on the right is him three weeks after he was rescued. He was the loveliest boy. Sadly he died of cancer at xmas 🙁 just 15 months after getting his loving home. He may not have had a home for years and years but even a small amount of happiness and love when you most need it can go a long long way. (Photo: sj2001)
