The shelter that has become home for “Smurf,” infamous kitten who was painted purple, is closing its doors temporarily in June.  Presently, volunteers are seeking homes for almost 300 cats while the Nine Lives Foundation looks for a new home.

The no-kill animal shelter, spay-neuter clinic has been at the the Rolison Road location for eight years.  Their lease is coming to an end, so the hunt is on to find a location larger than where they currently reside, having outgrown the facility.

Dr. Monica Rudiger, who started the shelter, believes the timing is good to make the move.  The foundation is looking to relocate in Redwood City sometime this summer and will be working on raising $1 million toward the new facility.  For the moment, however, 275 cats need to find their forever homes.
