Cat lovers and bus riders are in mourning in Hampshire, United Kingdom today after the passing of the “Bus Stop Cat.”
Missy, a thirteen-year-old cat, was known for her friendliness and her enjoyment of socializing at a bus stop in Leigh Park every day. Missy liked to sit on the bench, greeting bus riders as they waited for their bus. She loved socializing with people, and became quite well known.
Unfortunately, someone was terribly cruel to Missy in return. Missy’s owner, Richard McCormick, found that Missy returned home severely injured one night. He took her to the vet and learned that Missy’s skull had been fractured, her jaw was broken, and all of her teeth had been knocked out – someone had severely beaten the cat. The damage was too severe and Missy had to be euthanized.
Missy’s fans are honoring the cat with social media posts, and have been leaving flowers at her spot in the bus stop. Bus drivers and passengers, alike, are mourning Missy’s loss, along with her family.
The incident has been reported to Hampshire Police. Hopefully the person who hurt Missy will be brought to justice.
