A video showing the bond between a pair of best friends – a rescued kitten and the family’s dog – has gone viral, and has touched hearts everywhere.
The petparent of a golden retriever named Keelo and a rescued ginger kitten named Koda set up YouTube and Instagram accounts chronicling the life and friendship of the pair, who quickly bonded and became the best of loving friends after Koda was rescued and joined the dog’s household.
The pair’s person wrote earlier this year: “We found Koda abandoned a block away from our house when he was only a few weeks old. He quickly bonded with our golden retriever, Keelo, and we sometimes wonder if he thinks Keelo is his mom! We often caught him ‘wool sucking’ on Keelo’s fur when he was tiny.

Now a cute and beautiful video of the pair from June 5 has gone viral. The video shows scenes chronicling the friendship over several months. In early scenes, the dog is very gentle and considerate with the baby – who repeatedly pounces, attacks, climbs and plays on and with his friend. As Koda gets bigger, Keelo knows its ok to give back a bit while still being very careful of his little friend.
The friends’ petparent writes in introduction to the clips video:
“A montage of clips of our rescued ginger kitten, Koda, growing up with our family’s Golden Retriever, Keelo. They were instant friends when we first brought Koda home (who was only about a month old at the time, and could fit perfectly in my hand!). 8 months have passed since then and they still continue to be as close as ever. Their bond is incredible and something I’ve never seen between a large dog and a tiny cat before!”
The pair have been joined by a new kitten named Drogon, who appears in their Instagram photos.
